Our Leaders

  • Herbert Wigwe, co-founder and former Group CEO of Access Holdings PLC, is a prominent figure in African banking.

    His journey began with an accountancy degree, followed by further studies in banking and finance. With extensive experience in the industry, he rose through the ranks, eventually leading Access Bank to become Sub-Saharan Africa's largest retail bank.

    Beyond banking, he's involved in numerous initiatives, including combating HIV/AIDS and malaria, promoting sustainable development goals, and supporting communities during crises like COVID-19.

    He's recognized for his leadership and advocacy, receiving awards such as African Banker of the Year.

    Through the HOW Foundation, he champions education, health, and youth empowerment, collaborating with organizations like UNICEF.

    Additionally, he launched Wigwe University to revolutionize education in Nigeria and is a patron of the arts and a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion.

  • Doreen Chizoba Wigwe founded Craneburg Construction in 2016. But before pivoting into the construction industry, she practiced in the legal field as an advisor, specializing in corporate law, commercial litigation and arbitration.

    She once served on the legal board of Access Bank after obtaining a master’s degree in International law from the University of London.

    As an expert in legal practice, she was innovative and business-minded. An embodiment of ideas, she made a giant leap into business when she established Craneburg Construction, a multinational civil and building construction company situated in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.

    In a few years, the company grew tremendously, successfully executing various large-scale projects throughout the country.

  • Uche Wigwe is the Managing Partner of Wigwe and Partners, a firm established with a mandate to deliver top-notch legal advocacy and advisory services with international best practices and standards. Prior to this, he co-founded Akanbi & Wigwe Legal Practitioners, whose services attracted an impressive local and international clientele. A well-seasoned professional, Wigwe has an eclectic mix of regional and global experience garnered over two decades. His wealth of knowledge spans across Corporate & Commercial Law, Commercial Litigation, Business Formation, Insolvency Practice, Construction Contracts, Conveyances and Corporate Finance/Private Equity.

    A brilliant tactician and ethical advisor, Wigwe hails from Rivers State, Nigeria. He serves as an active member of the board of directors of Coronation Capital Limited, Trium Network Limited and Eko Development Company Limited. He holds a Master’s Degree in Petroleum law and Policy (University of Dundee, Scotland), Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) from University of Ibadan and B.Sc Banking and Finance, University of Port Harcourt (Nigeria). A dedicated legal practitioner and industry player, he is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).

  • Dr Ken-Worgu is the chairman and founder of Nortonel Group of Companies and an Independent Non-Executive Director of Access Investors Services Nominees Ltd. Before this appointment, he serves as Head of Operations at Oil and Industrial Services Limited, where he oversaw the new build of two offshore DLB barges and three support AHT vessels in China, developed a healthy opportunity backlog and improved customer satisfaction ratings. Over 20 years of comprehensive experience in the Oil and Gas sector has given him enviable exposure in operations, sales and marketing.

    A leader par excellence with impactful interpersonal skills, he hails from Rivers State, Nigeria. Dr Ken-Worgu has a passion for commerce, business and commercial activities in Africa. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Petroleum Engineer (Texas A&M University), a Master’s Degree in Management, a Graduate Certificate in Business (Harvard University), an M.Sc in Petroleum and Mining Engineering (The Pennsylvania State University), and a Bachelor in Science in Mechanical Engineering (Drexel University). He is a member of several professional engineering societies including the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
